Advertfarm, a mobile content network, has emerged today from private beta. This
start-up is privately funded and based in Lagos, Nigeria. Advertfarm, as a stand-alone
company, focuses on delivering mobile contents to users across Africa through Short
Message Services (SMS). Our services include but not limited to SMS marketing,
SMS Recruitment, Events Broadcasting, Sponsored Mobile Services and Mobile
Alerts.
Advertfarm provides advertisers with permission-based targeted marketing. These
advertisements are delivered to subscribers based on specific interests and
demographics. Advertfarm only sends its network members localized subscribed
mobile content that matches their interest, and gives them total control of when they
want to receive it, and how frequently they want to receive it through settings
available on the Advertfarm platform.
With over 200 million mobile subscribers in Africa, Advertfarm allows advertisers to
target a specific base of consumers in a meaningful way while allowing them to see a
much higher rate of return on their investment. The system is developed to fully
ensure that advertisers do not waste money on a demographic target that is irrelevant
to their goals.
The Advertfarm network has a strict privacy policy on all data collected from its
members. The Advertfarm mobile content delivery solution is the first of its kind in
Africa as they not only deliver permission-based content to their subscribers but also
pay their subscribers for subscribing.
Meanwhile, Advertfarm rewards its subscribed members through a revenue sharing
model. The income earned by members of the network is automatically sent to the
ATM cards attached to their account.
Advertfarm is currently running its pilot mode only in Nigeria and will launch it 2-
WAY SMS interactive system by July 2009. This system would include features such
as “SMS Service Un-subscription” where subscribers to a particular service could unsubscribe
for certain services without having to visit the web portal. They will be
launching services in other African countries in the next quarter.

Over the next few weeks I will be discussing a few Mozilla Firefox plugins that I use, even though I use more than one browser, I use Firefox primarily. I also use Opera, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome.
Sometimes when I use Firefox, I mistakenly close a tab that I didn’t mean to, and often I would have forgotten the url or website that I opened on that tab. Now enter a Firefox Extension called Undo Closed Tabs Button, essentially, it allows you to undo tabs that u closed earlier. I have found it very useful and on several occasions a lifesaver.
You can get it from here. To add it to Firefox, simply go to Tools on the Firefox menubar and click on add-ons. then click on Get Add-ons. type in the Plugin name (Undo Closed Tabs Button)Â into the search box on top and press the Enter key. Once it shows up, Click on the Install button.
Or
Use this link

The overall look and feel has been revamped, the main menu bar is now positioned on the Side, it also has the inbuilt ability to upgrade itself through a series of guided steps. From the dashboard, one can get an overview of a lot of things, it displays how many posts and comments till date, You can also use the Quickpress feature to make a new post without additional clicks. Installing Plugins now is a breeze thanks to a feature that allows you search for and install new plugins directly from the wordpress Plugins Site. The Dashboard also now has a new feature that allows you to display only the items you want to see on any admin page called On Screen Options. Overall WordPress 2.7 looks like a good upgrade and it has been made available to the general public. You can get it here

I have been playing with Twitter for the past three weeks and I am slowly getting hooked, Twitter is a service that allows you answer the question “What are you doing now?”. Its a service that can be used for microblogging because it essentially allows you to describe in one sentence what you are doing at the moment. Even celebrities like Britney Spears are using it. Using Twitter involves registering an account on twitter. Once that is done, you can begin to feed updates to your Twitter profile, You can either do this online on the site, you use one of the many available twitter clients, I use Twhirl personally, I went a step further to tie my Twitter account with my Facebook Profile, To do this, simply add the twitter application to your Facebook, it require you to enter your twitter username and password, but once you do that, its smooth sailing from there. To follow me on Twitter, use this link

Over the years I have gradually come to understand the value of building friendships before anything else, for love to grow and be retained, it needs to be built on a good foundation, and one of them is friendship.

Wikipedia defines Friendship as”co-operative and supportive behavior between two or more beings. In this sense, the term connotes a relationship which involves mutual knowledge, esteem, and affection and respect along with a degree of rendering service to friends in times of need or crisis”.  How does Friendship start, 2 people meet, they discover common interests, they share ideas and generally have going out and interacting with each other. There was a book I read and it changed my thinking in a big way, Marriage and Relationships are built on the foundation of friendship; you should enjoy the person you are with and the way to to do that is to become friends. It is important to become friends first, and good friends. Trust is also an essential ingredient for true friendship and a good relationship, We all need someone we can share our thoughts, feelings, frustrations and lives with. True friends encourage one another, are supportive of one another during tough times and forgive one another. Friendship is serious business, A friend encourages you and is always there for you when things are not so smooth and when things are smooth, because Marriage and Relationship is serious business, you need to realise that ultimately what you want and need is someone who is always there for you, someone who encourages you, sees the best in you. In going through life I would like to do it with my best friend by my side, who else should it be but the one who we intend to marry.

Build a foundation of friendship and trust and let it grow from there, Get to know each other and talk a lot, talking is important because it establishes a basis for the relationship and you discover common interests and also get to know the other person. Back when I was in school, I know a lot of relationships that never took off because either the man or the lady didn’t want to “spoil a beautiful friendship”, some even considered it a sacrilege that their friend would be asking them out. Get to know yourselves by going out often to different places and sharing moments together. Because Friendship is the basis for so many things including even business relationships, we need to understand and get it right, in conluding this I would like to repeat what a wise man once said – “Marry your best friend”

I used to have very queasy feelings about the subject of love, I always felt it was overrated and overblown and further more, the word is blasted at us from every where, from music to entertainment.

Over the years, I have come to understand more and more the subject of love. When I was much younger, it was a word I didn’t like to hear, and I always refrained from showing any form of emotion attached to the word in public. Hey, don’t get me wrong, I was not starved of affection when I was much younger, I simply didn’t like PSOA (Public Show of Affection). I felt that as a guy it simply portended weakness to do PSOA, however that mindset has changed, infact now I love PSOA. but I digress back to the subject at hand. Love can leave you with very pleasant memories, it can also leave you with pain and agony, but what is love, someone defined it this way “Love… What is love? Love is to love someone for who they are, who they were, and who they will be.”
It means the ability to see other people beyond their physical attributes, I also believe love is a choice, God chose to love us and He demonstrated it practically, when love has attached conditions then it has turned to something else. We are creatures of love and we were made to love. Love is the essence of God and defines his very nature, we were made in His image and likeness and so also possess that characteristic, We need to begin to understand what love truly is, and not the erroneous pictures being painted for us thru media. We can choose the right things and we can choose to love the way we were meant to.

Listened to a message today on the expressing Faith through Love and it got me thinking on why we want the things we do,

I realized that sometimes we ask God stuff for the wrong reasons and that is why sometimes we don’t recieve answers to prayers. In as much as we desire a thing and ask him for it, our motives for asking are also important, are we asking for our own selfish reasons or because we truly want to be a blessing to people, Faith is a very powerful force, Bishop David Oyedepo described it as Powerful Force drawn from the Living Word to produce living proofs. It becomes meaningful only when it finds expression in us through love, this means we need to be moved by love and not because of our own selfish needs.
Father help me to think about others and not only about myself. Lord you thought of me above anything else, that was why you died for me. help me to be more like you. Amen

A friend of mine got hit by a phishing attack about 3 weeks ago, he got a mail purportedly from Interswitch informing him that they were introducing a new security feature into their payment system and the feature required him to log in to activate it on his ATM card,

he followed the link and filled a form that asked for his card details such as card number and pin. His bank account was emptied the foll0wing day.
One kind of dangerous Internet attack is called a "phishing"attack and basically this is the way it works, you’re sent an email from what appears to be a bank, financial institution, or commerce site such as Etranzact, Interswitch, or Paypal, but in fact are forged sites. The emails warn that you must log on to your account, perhaps to verify information, or perhaps to be sure your account does not expire. You’re told to click a link to get to the site. When you get to the site, it looks like the real thing, but it’s a spoof. Log on, and all your information is stolen.
Why has phishing become so widespread? Because it pays offbig-time. Fraudsters can make massive amounts of revenue by draining bank accounts and participating in identity theft.
While phishing fraud is widespread, it’s actually not that difficult to protect against. Spam filters catch most phishing attempts, and some email programs, such as Outlook, now include built-in anti-phishing tools. Additionally, browsers include anti-phishing tools that warn you when you’re about to go to a website that is most likely a spoof. Additionally, there are browser add-ins that you can install that fight spoofs and phishing as well.
But the best protection is the simplest: Never click a link in an email that claims to be from a financial institution, no matter how legitimate the email seems.
Its important to always verify links before you click on them.
